My name is Pat Riley, I was born in Glasgow Montana and was raised on an irrigated farm in the Milk River Valley. After Highschool I attended Northern Montana College and later did some military time. After that I came back to Glasgow and leased an irrigated farm. Because of the depressed agriculture economy, I took a job with the Montana Department of Natural Resources, first collecting and reviewing water rights claims and later managing the Water Rights Adjudication Program for Northeast Montana. After about 15 years I was transferred to the Billings DNRC office to manage the Water Rights Adjudication program for Southeast Montana. In about 2000 I was hired to start up and run the Vision 2005 Irrigation Development Program, which was started to develop and sustain Irrigated Agriculture. I hired staff and traveled all over the state to work on agriculture issues as well as working with the state and federal agencies, and legislatures as well as working with every tribe to develop their water resources. I spent many days in Helena and Washington D.C. forwarding those efforts. I also served as a representative of the Upper Missouri Water Association and Family Farm Alliance.  Since retiring from the State, raising 6 kids, and being a School Board member in Shepherd I have purchased a small Ranch and run a small herd of cattle. I also consult and assist Farmers and Ranchers on Water Rights issues in many parts of Eastern and Central Montana. Agriculture and Rural life never left me. I also serve as 1st Vice Commander for the American Legion, served on the Musselshell County Conservation District, and the Fish Wildlife and Parks Region 5 advisory Board.  I try to assist my community anyway I can and try to be a good neighbor.

I have a strong background in Agricultural, Water, and land issues. I have been in real estate issues for many years and believe that no lifestyle is better than the rural life that Musselshell, Golden Valley, and Rosebud County provide.
